Travel Tryouts for 2009-2010
by posted 06/19/2009

Tryouts for the Irondequoit Soccer Club (ISC) 2010 travel season are fast approaching.

Tryouts for the 2010 Travel season will be held from Saturday, July 25, 2009 and Sunday, July 26, 2009. The expectation is most tryouts will be concluded by Sunday, July 26th; however circumstances (weather) may dictate additional tryout dates. All tryouts will be held at the Pinegrove fields. Specific times for each age group will be noted at the beginning of July.

Please complete our travel registration form and pay the $10 insurance fee by Friday July 10th.The registration and payment can be completed in one of 2 ways:

If your son or daughter is interested in trying out; but will be unable to attend, please provide a note on the registration form. We will make every effort to evaluate those kids who can not attend.

Our goal is to provide a tryout process ensuring each prospective player is given a fair and comprehensive opportunity to display his or her skills and passion for soccer. In addition; the Club is committed to ensuring that all parents and players will have a clear understanding of the process and will be kept informed throughout the process.

This following outlines the “general” process that will be used for the 2010 tryouts; beginning Saturday, July 25, 2009.

Tryout Process
  • A registration booth will be located at each tryout site. For those players who have pre-registered; they will simply have to sign in; then will be given a number to wear at all tryout sessions.
  • Boys and Girls will be evaluated separately.
  • We ask that players do not wear prior year travel uniforms or apparel.
  • Each tryout session will be monitored by multiple examiners; who will evaluate each player.
  • Head coaches from ISC will run the tryout drills and be included among the evaluators
Prospective players can choose to play “up” an age group; thus trying out for the age bracket a year above their range. We do recommend that the player also try out for his or her age appropriate group as well; to ensure they are evaluated by all the appropriate teams.

Team Formation Process

  • At the conclusion of each group’s tryout session(s); the evaluators will submit their player evaluations to the club for review. The VP of travel, travel division coordinators; the director of coaching will then place players on appropriate teams based on the feedback and evaluations from the examiners and the respective head coach of each team.
  • A first draft of team placements will be completed within a week of the last tryout session; at or around Saturday; August 1.
  • Players selected for Red ( traditionally the “A” or most competitive team in a given age group ) teams will be offered spots within a week of the last tryout session; no later than Wednesday August 5.
  • Please be prepared to accept or reject an offer to play on a red team within 48 hours of the offer. A deposit of $100 will be required at that time; serving as a commitment to play for that team.
  • If you choose to reject an offer from a red team you will be allowed the option to keep your child in the pool to potentially be placed on another team. Please be reminded that ISC can not guarantee that their will be another team; as it is dependent on the number and skill of kids trying out for that age bracket. The cost and time commitment levels for each option will be spelled out to you at the time of the offer.
  • After the acceptances are complete, additional players may be needed for a given red team. If so, they will be selected from the pool of available players with the highest ratings. These offers will take place within a few days of the first set of offers and the same acceptance policy will apply (48 hrs/ $100).
  • Offers to play on blue ( traditionally a “B” or second team within a given age group )teams will be extended after the red teams are complete. Our expectation is that this will take place by Friday, August 7th. The same (48 hr/ $100) acceptance policy will be in effect.
  • If there are not enough qualified players to form a blue team in a given age bracket then a multiple age bracket team may be formed.
  • Please note that a s sincere effort will be made to place all players with travel caliber soccer skills on appropriate teams. However; dependent on the number of kids trying out; not all players may make a team. This is the most difficult part of the process; but is necessary to ensure all kids are playing at the appropriate level.

Thanks to all for their consideration and we hope to see you at the 2010 tryouts!

ISC Travel Program Highlights:
  • Practices will be held from Fall 2009 through July 2010.
  • During the winter; each travel team will practice a minimum of once a week at All-Star Sports on Ridge Road.
  • Season runs from May through end of July. Each team will have 12 league games; plus a minimum of three tournaments.
  • Registration fees are expected to be at or around $320. Uniform fees of approximately $75 will be in addition to the registration fees.
  • Travel is typically limited to the surrounding Rochester area. Out of town tournaments are at each team’s discretion. Most teams choose local tournaments; as many Rochester travel club hosts tournaments
  • Goal of the travel program is to develop players while providing a challenging and competitive environment for those kids who truly love the game of soccer.
  • All travel coaches are required to adhere to standards established by the Director of Coaching; as we attempt to provide the best training possible.
If you should have any questions; please do not hesitate to contact me at .

Sincerely yours;

Zero Tolerance Policy
by posted 06/11/2009

As a member club of NYSW Youth Soccer Association, ISC follows the edicts of NYSWYSA including the newly adopted Zero Tolerance Policy.

 NYS WEST Youth Soccer Association
Zero Tolerance Policy

To help prevent physical assault and verbal abuse in the leagues and clubs within the New York State West Youth Soccer Association (NYSWYSA, or Association); the Association has adopted a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY. This policy applies to all coaches, players, parents, spectators and other supporters and referees effective immediately. Abusive and obscene language, violent play/conduct, fighting and other behavior (including, but not limited to sarcasm, taunting, etc.) deemed detrimental to the game between the above mentioned groups will not be tolerated. The ultimate responsibility for the actions of coaches, players and spectators resides with the member clubs.

It is the responsibility of the coaches to provide referee support and spectator control, and it is the responsibility of the member clubs to provide instructions to their coaches on how they are expected to carry this out. This policy applies before, during and after the game at the soccer field and its immediate surrounding areas.
